Finding the Balance

One of my priorities in recent years has been to simplify my life, and it seems I've been successful in some areas, but not so much in others. There are so many good things to say yes to. Spending time with family and friends, church activities, keeping up my home and yard, creative projects, blogging--you get the picture. All worthwhile and important things, but once again I've taken on too much it seems, and I'm having a hard time keeping up with it all. I know I'm not alone in this. I'm sure you've experienced that overwhelmed feeling that comes when things are out of balance.

A good example of this is the fact that it's been over a week since my last blog post! I had good intentions, but not enough time or energy. I think I need to take some pressure off myself and be content to blog when I can. It's been great fun so far, and I don't want it to become just another pressure. I hope you won't give up on me!

I did make progress on a fun project that I want to share with you. I bought some cute Halloween fabric when I was in Rossville, and decided to make an apron out of it this weekend.

I made the pockets from some vintage-style fabric that I found at Joann's, and of course I couldn't resist adding ric-rac.

You can't see it in these pictures, but on the waistband by the ties are buttons that say BOO. I thought they were a cute touch. This was a fun project that got me in the Halloween spirit. Maybe I'll put some candy in the pockets and answer the door wearing this!

Boy, do I understand wanting to simplify, but not keeping up!
I really think that your apron is so cute. I was making aprons a few years ago. It was a fun craft! Some where I know I have three retro looking aprons I started from a vintage pattern I purchased. You may have just inspired me to dig them out and finish them!

The rick rack is the perfect touch! I wear aprons and need to make some more! And you are right...it's very hard to simplify your life! But I love having a lot going on! And I love fun sewing projects when the weather gets cool! Enjoy your evening! Hugs! ♥

Hi, Betsy! Don't feel bad about not blogging every day. You maybe won't believe this, but I was feeling overwhelmed and guilty when I wasn't posting 5-6 times a week. When I noticed that you posted when you had something to say, it really took some of the pressure off. Sometimes my blog ideas just aren't ready to be posted...I don't feel so bad about it anymore. =D

The apron is adorable! Yes, I understand, I have been stretched about as far as I could be in the last couple of months! I just do the best that I can and keep going, those who love me understand!

What a sweet Halloween apron. I think it would be a perfect answering the door outfit. You can stuff the cute pockets full of candy.
I don't think I post as often as I should, but only as often as I can.

You may be a little out of balance, but still know how to make a neat apron. You did very well with your ideas. It will get better.

Cute Apron! I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed by too many irons in the fire. I love blogging but it takes a lot more time than I had anticipated in the beginning. I need to find a balance or I'm afraid I may loose my 'joy' in it and I don't want to do that! Good luck to you...I hope you find your balance also. Have a good week!

Your apron is just to cute. Now that you point out the buttons they do make a wonderful touch. I love the fabric you used and of course no apron would be complete without rick rack.

Hi Betsy!

That's a really cute apron and of course I love the rick rack touch! :)

I'm glad to see you back! If you post daily, once a week, once a month...I'll keep checking! You are worth it! Just don't let it overwhelm you which is what I did.

In the beginning I posted every single day..didn't even rest on the Sabbath! I was also pretty much computer illiterate when I started so it was a real chore for me to just get a post ready. Needless to say, it became too much for me and I had so enjoyed it before.

Just do what you can, when you can, and let the rest go.

Hugs,
Hope

I can relate, it can be hard sometimes to find the time to post things. I am lucky most times to get a post in a week. Just post when you can :)

I hope you have a spookly good Halloween!

Betsy,
If you'll notice a lot of us have "spurts" of posts....then nothing for awhile....blogging is about fun, not about needing to feel pressure!!!!! I was gone for two weeks and could have posted, but just didn't want to! The rule with blogging is... there are no rules!!!!! I for one am not going anywhere......I love whatever and whenever you post! Sandy
